TaskHusky Curated Newsletter #005

Dealing with your abandonment issues, Brexit info, some FREE stuff for eCommerce websites, and more.

Dear -

Can you believe that Christmas was four weeks ago? Crazy! As we were doing our weekly eCommerce reading we came across a perfectly-timed white paper telling you how to beat the after-holiday sales slump. So, we’ve got that for you this week along with a nice how-to from Privy on reducing cart abandonment, FREE eCommerce marketing images, and a bunch more.

Let’s get to it.

1. Does Your Site Suffer from Abandonment Issues?

If your eCommerce site suffers from excessive shopping cart abandonment, there are some real-world solutions. Privy just put out a handy document worth reading. It’s called,

“The Ultimate Guide to Reducing Cart Abandonment.”

Check it out.

2. While we're on the subject … The Psychology of eCommerce

We came across an interesting white paper produced by Vaimo – a Magento agency in Sweden that we’ve never heard of before, but their website is cool. Anyhooo … the just-released white paper is titled,

“How to beat the slump: Behavioral Psychology in eCommerce.”

In it they discuss how to keep sales from dropping off so dramatically after holidays, which is valuable info to have. Besides, it’s the science of human behavior marketing, and we’re nerds for this kind of thing.

3. This Might be the Biggest No-Brainer in the History of Marketing

Subscription services charge actual money for images. Problem is, eCommerce websites need a ton of them, so it can get spendy – especially if you’re a small shop trying to get your business off the ground. So, we’ve started building a library of themed sale and promotional images and they’re completely free to subscribers. We’ll add a bunch of new ones every week, high-res and pre-sized for banners, hero images, emails, social, etc. And they will be posted as PNG, JPG, and as Photoshop source files so you can customize them yourself (or we can help with that). That’s a TON of value for … ahem … FREE. A complete no-brainer.

4. As If We Haven’t Heard Enough About Brexit

When it comes to things like this, our general opinion is that things are never as bad, or as good, as the media thinks it is. But the UK Parliament just can’t seem to get themselves out of the mess that they themselves created, so they’re speeding toward a bit of uncertainty and political confusion. Rita Angelovska – a retail industry contributor for Forbes – just wrote a short piece on how Brexit might impact eCommerce in Europe. If you ship between the UK and the EU mainland, this article might be for you.

5. What Happens in Vegas, Get’s Published on Social Media (and here)

Every January, the much-anticipated Consumer Electronics Show (CES) returns to Sin City. But John Cassillo of Marketing Land noticed something different at this year’s event. He talks about positive consumer attention and “consent-driven data” and how that impacts creative marketing in his article,

“Everything is e-commerce: big takeaways from CES.”
