Now Is the Time to Find Stuff to Sell Online, & Sell It Well
Hello -
If you’re in the US, the 4
of July is a big deal. Well, for obvious reasons this year it was not as big a deal as normal, but it was still pretty big. Because online commerce is what we do my mind naturally wandered; can you even buy fireworks online? Turns out that you can, but just
. Since Amazon is NOT in the sparkler and roman candle business, that smells like opportunity dipped in sulfur and magnesium to me.
There are a few fireworks guys who are doing the online fireworks gig and no one is dominating the market. My favorite is
— only because of the name really. I mean, how great is that name, right? Of course, there are
about who can ship to who in what state and what can be shipped via USPS, which is likely why Amazon is staying clear of the pyrotechnics. But you gotta sell something.
Which reminds me … you know that the year is half over now, right? And … the holiday season begins in four months. Let’s find some products to add into the mix and talk about ways to sell them. Here are this week’s top stories.
Happy Selling,
Zachary

Top Shopify Stories of the Week
Now is the time to prepare for the holidays. Now, we NEVER recommend that merchants chase a buck or get all up and in your face trendy. That is a great way to kill your brand. Shopify updated their list of trending products too. Sure, this list just HAPPENS to be a subset of high-margin things you can drop-ship from their Oberlo subsidiary. But that does not mean they are not good ideas. So, take a look.
Cart abandons are the sad sorrow of unrequited eCommerce romance. We are left to mourn the relationship sale that might have been, asking why they left. But maybe, just maybe the customer is really saying, “Not yet.” That’s what cart recovery is all about. Go get ‘em.
Practice, practice, practice … eCommerce is an art and a science. Always will be. Klaviyo recognized that the current state of the world requires a bit of finesse.
Have you ever been to an eCommerce website and you just can’t seem to find what you are looking for? Sure you have. We all have. Sometimes the website might have actually had what I wanted, but navigating to it wasn’t clean and intuitive. Our friend Kurt Elster talks about it.
