Read About OG Settings to Get More eCommerce Clicks 🔥

Hello -

We are going to try something new starting this week.

Each week we’ll start by offering an actionable item you can do to your Shopify store to increase sales, improve user experience, and overall make more money.

At the start of COVID-19 we launched our merchant spotlight segment where we highlighted Shopify merchants doing cool things. One of the items I noticed the most when inputting stores into our social media accounts was a lack of OG title, image, and descriptions.

In the world of Hip Hop, “OG” means “original gansta.” At Facebook “OG” stands for Open Graph. It’s a protocol that determines what social media displays when someone shares your website link on social media. This is important because a poor title, image, or description could stop potential clicks … and that’s bad. Using good OG content and settings also avoids branding issues because others won’t be able to edit the details.

You can learn more about setting the image within Shopify free themes

. Your specific theme determines what information is taken and how the image is set. You can even do a custom OG set-up so each page takes different information or image.

Remember last week when we told you about text marketing? Well, SMS marketing is a real thing. If you are considering doing a campaign, here are some things to remember from our friends at Privy.

If you can manage to click through the three subscription and marketing screens, this blog post from StoreYa has some great tips on creating YouTube video ads.

See that? THAT, my friend, is an SEO optimized headline. But beneath the headline is an actual article that my team has saved to refer to in the future. Knowledge and resources are power, my friends.

There is an old expression in PR and marketing — “There’s no such thing as bad press.” Well, the modern equivalent is, “Content is king.” And there are more content channels than ever.
