Hello -If any eCommerce marketing tactic is a no-brainer, this is it. The data is overwhelming that businesses of all sizes — large and small — increase sales when they have customer reviews on their site.This seems rather intuitive. But to prove the point, Vedasta recently compiled data points from nine separate industry sources to assemble evidence that proves just how true it really is. Let me drop just a few of these stats on you:
92% of consumers read online reviews for products and services.
73% of consumers form an opinion by reading from one to six reviews, and 88% read up to ten reviews (more is better!).
“Star Rating” (from one to five) is the number one factor consumers use to judge a business, and 94% choose businesses with four or more stars.
And with the incredible growth in traffic from mobile devices, this one stat made us sit up and take notice:
Smartphone users are 127% more likely to buy when they read reviews on their mobile devices than those who visit a site from their pc.
That’s pretty incredible, right? And these are just some of the highlights. The report has fifty related data points that a modern, online business simply can’t afford to ignore. We’ve helped a lot of customers set up their eCommerce sites to display customer reviews and their feedback backs up those results. And this is true for reviews about the business itself AND for reviews about individual products and services. If fact, it’s better to have customer reviews about both the overall business — including things like customer service and buying experience — and about the specific products and services that they purchased whenever possible. If you are not getting and displaying a consistent flow of reviews you are missing out on conversions, it’s just that simple.
